Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

PRIVACY POLICY

The Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless (“CSAH,” “we,” “us”) helps people in Chatham County find shelter, food, health care, housing, and other services. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Using our website or a public kiosk does not require you to identify yourself

You can browse our website and use a CSAH public information kiosk to look up services, get directions, and see what is open without giving us your name or any other personal information.

When you ask us for help

If you use a kiosk to ask CSAH to contact you, or to request help, we may ask for:

– your name, or a nickname or alias if you prefer

– your date of birth

– a phone number, if you have one

– your CSAH client ID, if you have one

– how many people are with you

– whether you have an animal with you

– a short description of what you need

You can decline. If you would rather not give your name, date of birth, or other identifying details, you can say so and describe your situation instead. Declining to give us personal information will not stop us from helping you.

We ask for these details so an outreach worker can find you, follow up, and bring the right help. That is what we use them for.

The kiosk itself does not store anything

CSAH kiosks do not keep your information on the machine. Nothing you type stays on the unit after your session ends. What you send goes to a secure CSAH system, and the kiosk screen clears.

Kiosks have no cameras and no microphones. They do not detect or track phones or other devices passing by.

Text messages

A phone number can come into it in two different ways, and we treat them differently.

Sending resource information to yourself.
At a kiosk, you can send details about a service, an address, hours, or a phone number to your own phone as a text message. You enter your number, you tap send, and we text you what you asked for. We do not keep the number.
It is used to send that one message, and then it is gone.

Giving us your number so we can reach you. If you ask CSAH to contact you, the number you give us is kept with your request so an outreach worker can call or text you back.

In both cases, giving us a phone number is your choice. You do not need a phone, and you do not need to give us a number, to get help from CSAH.

Mobile information will never be shared or sold to third parties or lead generators. No mobile information about anyone who opts into our messaging program will be shared with or sold to third parties or lead generators for any purpose.

Who sees your information?

Your information is seen by CSAH staff and outreach workers who need it in order to help you. Access is limited by role. Not everyone at CSAH can see everything.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or lead generators.

We may share information:

– with a partner service provider, when you have asked us to connect you to them

– when the law requires it, or to prevent a serious and immediate threat to someone’s safety

– with funders, in the form of counts and totals that do not identify anyone

How this relates to the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)

Georgia’s Homeless Management Information System (GA HMIS) is a statewide database that homeless service agencies use to coordinate care. CSAH participates in GA HMIS.

Information you give us at a kiosk is not automatically entered into GA HMIS. If you go on to receive services from CSAH, a staff member may enter your information into GA HMIS as part of that intake, the same as if you had walked into our office. When that happens, the GA HMIS Privacy Policy governs how that information is handled, and it gives you specific rights, including the right to opt out of sharing your information with other agencies.

The GA HMIS Privacy Policy is published by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs and is available here

You can also ask any CSAH staff member for a copy.

How long we keep it

We keep records for seven years, in line with CSAH’s records retention practice and with the requirements of the federal, state, and local programs we work with. Some information may be kept longer where the law requires it.

Your choices

You can:

– ask us what information we have about you

– ask us to correct something that is wrong

– decline to give us information at any time, without losing access to help

– stop text messages at any time by replying STOP

To do any of these, call (912) 813-4614, or ask any CSAH outreach worker or staff member.

Our website

homelessauthority.org uses cookies and standard web analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use. This does not identify you personally. Our site includes maps provided by a third-party map service, which operates under its own privacy policy.

Measuring kiosk use

We count how kiosks get used, how many people tap a category, how long a session lasts, which services get looked up most, so we know whether they are working and where the next one should go. These counts contain no personal information and are not linked to you.

Children

CSAH serves families with children. A parent or guardian provides information about a child as part of a request for help. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children online.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.

TERMS OF USE

Last updated: September 1, 2026

These terms apply to homelessauthority.org and to CSAH public information kiosks.

What we provide

CSAH provides information about shelter, food, health care, housing, and other services in Chatham County. We work to keep it accurate and current, but hours change, programs fill up, and availability moves. Call ahead when you can. We cannot guarantee that a service listed here will be available when you arrive.

Listing an organization is not an endorsement of it, and CSAH is not responsible for services provided by another organization.

This is not an emergency service

If you are in danger or need emergency help, call 911. For a mental health or suicide crisis, call or text 988. For information and referral at any hour, call 211.

CSAH kiosks display phone numbers, but they do not place calls. Requests sent through a kiosk are answered by CSAH staff during working hours. Outside those hours, a request may not be seen until the next business day. Do not use a kiosk request to report an emergency.

Text messages from CSAH

What we send. We send information about resources you asked for, an address, hours, a phone number, or a similar detail, to the number you give us. If you have asked CSAH to contact you, an outreach worker may also text you to follow up.

How you opt in. Entering your phone number at a CSAH kiosk and tapping send is how you consent to receive that message. Giving us your number is your choice, and it is never a condition of receiving help from CSAH.

We do not sign you up for anything else. Receiving a resource text does not subscribe you to any additional text messages from CSAH. There is no newsletter, no campaign, and no marketing list.

How often. Only when you ask. We send a message when you request one, or when a CSAH worker is following up on a request you made. Most people receive one message.

Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier’s standard message and data rates apply to messages you send and receive. CSAH does not charge for this service.

To stop. Reply STOP to any message and you will not receive further texts.

For help. Reply HELP to any message, or call (912) 813-4614.

Delivery. Message delivery is not guaranteed. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy. Mobile information will never be shared or sold to third parties or lead generators. See our Privacy Policy above.

Using kiosks properly

CSAH kiosks are public equipment provided for everyone’s use. Please do not damage, deface, or tamper with a kiosk, and do not attempt to access anything on it beyond the information provided on screen. Be mindful of others waiting.

Accessibility

CSAH is committed to making our website and our kiosks usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. If you have trouble using either, or need information in another format, call (912) 813-4614.

Accuracy and liability

Information on our website and kiosks is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by Georgia law, CSAH is not liable for any loss or harm arising from reliance on that information or from a service being unavailable.

Changes

We may update these terms. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
